Thread Repair Insert tap is a specialized cutting tool designed explicitly to cut oversized threads that accommodate wire thread inserts (such as V-Coils). You cannot use a standard tap for this process, as the hole must be oversized to account for the thickness of the wire insert while keeping the original nominal bolt size intact.
